The first photo in a five-part series on the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco.

When a dazzled John C. Fremont sailed through the strait of San Francisco in 1846, he was struck by its resemblance to the glorious harbor of Constantinople, the Golden Horn. Fremont was captain of the U.S. Army's topographical engineers and charged with naming the strait. He called it the Golden Gate.

The cosntruction of actual bridge was completed in 1937.

It is an astonishing experience to walk over this giant. Count at least one to two hours for the visit.

A less known fact - The Allure - Beauty and an easy route to death have long made the Golden Gate Bridge a magnet for suicides! One thousand, two hundred eighteen dead so far.

Technical - cropped a little.

A fairly 'standard' view of the Golden Gate Bridge, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with that! The lighting is great and the red of the bridge really vibrant. Even the colours in the clouds are good.
Overall a very nice image.

Good photo. Great colours and clear clouds. nice done.

excellent shot, Sunil!
every single element of the picture is perfect, so it's better to admire your shot in silence!!!

Sunil
Excellent composition and good depth to this shot. The colour of the bridge has been brought out richly and the depth of field is well delivered. A great contribution.

Hello Sunil! It´s the first picture I see from your archives and I like it so much for many reasons. First because I like this bridge, and specially this city of San Francisco! Second because the photo in itself, showing wonderful colours, sharpness, DOF and a very known, but always fantastic, POV! Congratulations! TFS! Regards!

sunil,
you had one of those bay area days when everything comes together. great composition and note. good color and detail.

Good morning Sunil,
That really is somewhere I'd love to go, kind of place to see! Looks beautiful from this point of view. Nice colors. Good job!
Charles

fantastique photo the golden bridge!
good shot!
bravo!
amitiés....aldo.

The image is really cool. Nice colors, and sky is so vivid...

Something I was longing to see such capture Sunil. I'd seen other pictures but this logo of "Cicso Systems" is precise to the subject that highlights the masterpiece. I tend not to collect more historic information before visiting a place. I did same for this Goldengate as well and frankly when I saw it first it fail to impress me having seen similar structures in the eastern coast. But it certainly is a great place. i rather liked the redwoods further north of SFO.
