Photographer’s Note
11 PM on State Street in Ann Arbor, Michigan, during the first heavy snowfall of the approaching winter. The building across the street is the old Unitarian Church built in 1886, and it is now the corporate headquarters for architecture firm Hobbs & Black.

Hi Geoffrey,
There are several reasons why I like this shot...first, I love snow! Second, I like the clarity of detail and the movement and third, the black and white works really well. Great composition and the atmosphere is special. I love it! Well done. Best wishes, Vicky (UK)

Now this is a really cool night scene Geoff. I see you didn't use a tripod on this one? The stage came out very clearly and the stage being everything static. The people and car add a ghostly dynamism to this black and white scene. With the bare trees, the bright street light and Richardsonian Romanesque church it has a haunting quality. Like something out of a horror film of the past. And in details I really like the textures of the snow, from smooth and and clean to beaten down and dirty. It all adds up to create an excellent mood to the shot.
