Photographer’s Note

I was riding shotgun with my girlfriend driving home from Twin Lakes, WA when we were fortunate to see this great fall sunset. I grabbed my camera from my bag in the back seat, rolled down the window and snapped a few quick shots. Within one minute it was over and the clouds and the sky turned bluish gray to sleep for the night. Soap lake is an interesting place. The lake was very popular in the first half of the 20th century. People would bathe in the water for healing purposes. It was known to cure miscellaneous skin diseases. Many people left when sulfa-drugs hit the market and the town's attraction dwindled. The lake still has many intriguing properties deserving of scientific research.
