Photographer’s Note
It seems the willingness is there, but the equipment is lacking. A cresent moon with, I'm assuming Venus, was a real treat in my southern sky tonight just after sunset. I set my camera on "night landscapes", and braced it against the top of my deck railing. I used the timer to avoid unnessary shake pressing the buttion, and unfortunately this was the best I could do. I love the convenience of the Nikon Coolpix S2, but one of these days I'll look forward to an update that could do a scene like the one shown justice.
I also cropped of a chunk of the dark space on the bottom of the picture.

I can see what you wanted to photograph the scene. The composition is beautiful. I suppose you need a good tripod. I also am in need of one of those.

David,
Nice try to take the night shot. Please provide the exif data. A tripod is a must to take the distant object. When you are shooting the moon or other stars only you will realize how fast earth moves. Good try.
