Photographer’s Note

I've taken this photo from the top of the Empire State Building...
...you can see, illuminated by the red lights of cars,
the crossing between the 5th avenue and the Brodway...
...I know, the quality is not excellent (I didn't have the tripod) but task it's however an evocative view...

I hope you like it.

Ciao Fabio, che dire di questa foto. un classico, però con quel tocco in più che la distingue. quelle luci rosse delle auto, sembrano le arterie e le vene di NY!
bella foto, forse con un pò troppo contrasto che la sfoca un pò nella parte superiore.
ma comunque molto bella e suggestiva!

VEry nice shot Fabio. I like the colored lines of cars running thru town. Must be awesome standing on top and having such a great view. You captured it well.

Nice shot. It's not the typicall skyline of New York. Nice colors but maybe it needs more definition? The photo is not clear in the sky for exemple.

In any case, I like it!

Very nice city view. There's quite a few skyscrapers with different architectural styles. Red stripe of backlights give this more dynamic feeling. Having fight with noise of my scans for the last couple of days, I find the grainyness here quite acceptable.

Proprio un classico, almeno per chi ha avuto la fortuna di un 'giretto' nella grande mela!
Sono d'accordo con Paolo, anche se c'è un po' di 'rumore' ottico (credo sia lo scanner, giusto ?) la presenza di tutte le luci dà un tocco particolare, come un immenso albero addobbato... fuori stagione!
Davvero una panoramica suggestiva!

Che bella vista Fabio. Una prospettiva privilegiata indubbiamente che consente di avere un colpo d'occhio unico sulla città. Solo il cielo nella parte alta è un po' granoso..

This large format shot, though as you say may be lacking in a little clarity, is still a worthy capture of the city. The POV and DOF are superb and the eye feasts upon so much from this vista. I like the grey and red colours predominating here. Well captured, Fabio.

Hi Fabio,you certainly have a head for heights,this is good but i would love to see another take on it with your tripod to hand,
going up this high i should imagine its good to travel light.

Great POV, it's a pity it's noisy, I'd agree with some of the other comments that it would be nice to see how it would have worked with a tripod.

The colours, the evening sky & the city lights coming to life, this really does give a great sense of the big city atmosphere that you get in New York.

I like it, especially as I have a very similar shot as well in my portfolio here on TE. Mine is in b/w and its a different POV though. I really like how the colors jump from the screen in this shot, the city sems to be ablaze in light.

It is a bit noisy, but the myriad lights detract from that to create a very interesting and pleasing image. Good POV and square framing.

hi fabio nice shot here too, im suprised that there isnt more shots from here! but i seem to remember a shot that was taken from here on a night with a long exposure and the lights of the cars acted like blood and provided solid red and white lines through the picture! anyway back to yours nice shot, nothing much i would change, apart from trying to fix the little noise at the top! thanks for sharing

I had seen this photo fo yours before going to NYC few weeks ago and this photo had inspired me to put ESB in the list of places to visit in NYC ... but I just could not fit the ESB in my schedule as I had too little time in NYC and too many things to do. (and I do like to visit fewer places and spend greater time rather than visit too many places with less time at each one)
Anywyas it is nice to see through your photo what the view must have looked like.

PS: Too much of noise for my tasets due to high ISO ... but still a very decent moody capture .. I like it very much and I know what I missed.
