Photographer’s Note

I took this photo on the way home from visiting my daughter Kalina, who lives about a 3 hour drive away from me, in Prineville, Oregon. We usually drive up highway 35 near Mount Hood and this is the glacial river called White River that runs off of one of the glaciers on Mount Hood. I took the photo looking towards the Southeast, away from Mount Hood.

Just a week after I took this photo we had tons and tons of rain and the road was covered with mud and debris and they closed highway 35 for about 2 weeks. It just reopened this last Friday.

From Koin news:
"Three streams overflowed last week during a flash flood, sending tons of mud, trees and boulders down the mountainside and over Highway 35, which connects Hood River and Government Camp
ODOT spokesman Dave Thompson said the highway is not washed out, but there has been damage with tons of debris left on the pavement and water over the roadway."
