Midtown from the UN Photo

Photographer’s Note

This summer, I did an internship at the United Nations. This was taken about 20 minutes after sunset from the UN secretariat building. The big building on the right is the Chrysler building. The big building on the left is the Empire State Building. I think that this was shot at ISO 100 to get more detail in combination with f/11. I got more detail this way than doing it the quick and easy way of using ISO 800 or 1600 with f/5.

I cropped, sharpened, and increased the contrast a little from the original.

Hi Mike,
Great night shot. You can tell that yhou have thought it out well, the street on the right leading to the taller building is a very well composed element. Great light and sharpness.

A fine capture from the New York´s skyline,
one can see why it´s called city of lights..

"Mr Anyone" can not have this view from the UN. That's a bit unusual and the picture has nice warm colors. Great one.

Hola Mike. Una foto nocturna fantástica. Me gusta mucho el ambiente que has creado y sobretodo los colores. Es increible esta visión de la ciudad porque estoy acostumbrado a ver fotos en las que el punto de vista es más alto. Me gusta mucho más tú punto de vista porque da más verticalidad a la foto y es una perspectiva mucho más original. La exposición además es increiblemente buena. Un gran trabajo.

You really got a fantastic result on this night shot. The exposure and light looks just perfect. Great sharpness as well. Looking at this angle, we would think the Crysler is higher than the Empire State. Good illusionist work.

Gorgeous view with excellent detail. Lovely view of the skyline especially with the ESB and the Chrysler building. Funny how the Chrysler building looks taller than the ESB.
