Photographer’s Note
This is a pretty straight forward picture of the White House, but I noticed that a picture of the home of the most powerful man in the world was lacking on TE so I decided to upload it.
I was in the Washington area 1998, visiting friends. When at the White House I stuck my camera betwen the sticks in the fence, half expecting Secret service agents, death rays, mutant flying monkeys and everything else the President has for his protection to come down on me, but nothing happened so I snapped the picture and walked on.
The day was overcast, grey, pretty bad lighting conditions for photography but I am reasonably happy with how this shot turned out using a simple compact.
Postprocessing: Levels, crop and sharpening, the usual stuff. But I did also add the blue to the sky to make it contast the White House better. Lastly I applied a contrast mask to lighten up the trees.

Congratulation to risk your freedom to have this pic! It is certainly the epicenter of political power but as I think real power is economy, I should place epiceter of power at Wall Street... It is just my point of view.
I also tried to improve the quality of this pic with a workshop.

nice well balanced shot of the white house. glad no trouble came from snapping this image. may need a little more sharpening. just enough detail in the trees. very nice image.

Yes - I was there back in 1979, but after movie "Independence day" this place will never be the same for me.

I have finally found a White House Picture! Thank you! Strange, you are alone to show this... Do you know why it's called the white house? Because it was burnt by Canadians when Americans wanted more territory in the North... Not to show that it was burnt in a military defeat, they painted it in blank. WTC was not the first foreign attack on USA territory ! But I guess that it's not written in History books in USA.
