Photographer’s Note
Another image from one of my favorite places to shoot: the marshes near my home. My kids and I like to go canoeing here. We'll try winter canoeing this year, and in the Spring, we'll get serious about bird watching, thanks to Callie (cdewet).
I'd love some help with this image. I think it has super potential, and it's one of the few photos I've taken that made me gasp when I first saw it. I welcome your suggestions!
You can see a workshop version of this photo, too.

It's a beautiful view. I think I'd prefer it without the dock, cropped where the bright sky end (which would make the photo horizontal). The mountain is captured beautifully with vivid colors.

A beautiful scene. My first reaction (before seeing your cropped version) was that perhaps the dock should be cropped away. But, on reflection (no pun intended), I think that it contributes a lot in terms of depth, scale and 'humanness'. The foreground does, however, seem to me to be a little dark relative to the rest of the scene. I have tried a workshop.

Yes, there has to be many birds in those marshes! Callie got me hooked too.
The photo is stunning. I like the dock in the foregorund, because it adds depth. The forground may be a little brighter, but it is not a big thing. The different shades of blue and grey are great. Well done!!!

Very pretty. I didn't know there's a body of water in heaven. Anyway, as I was scrolling down I was brought back to earth by the dark foreground. Good contrast but a little bit overdone.

Very beautiful, David. The reflection is marvelous, and I fully support your choice of not cropping the dock out. I like that we can see more clouds in the reflection than we can in the sky. Great!

I have already seen your image on dpchallenge. So calm, peaceful, relaxing...
Maybe a selective application of NeatImage can remove the bit of digital grain in the water (much easier on the full sized image). IMO, a combination of larger saturation/lower lightness in the cyans should also help for the sky.

Think the picture has the right amount of qualities and composing. The total contributes to a pleasure where the eye follows the comtent from the foreground to the distant back.

superb image. love the depth created by the boat tie and bit of dock in the foreground. colors seem subtle but not washed out and seem to represent just a cold day by the lake. well done and beautiful image.

Fantastic colours and composition. The dock should be kept for perspective it forms part of the scale of your picture cropping it would leave a square.Congratulations..

Like this picture with the dock as it gives the lake more depth. Very good shot with sky, mountain, lake and the bench mark, the dock. Not good at image manipulating softwares but if the dark clouds near the dock could be brighter.

Yep, you definetely got something here! The reflection is fantastic and Ilike that most of the surface is reflecting water and not sky. And the dock should stay, it is not only a foreground that adds depth, it also tells us that your feet are dry and many other things.

Nice mirror effect. I like the way you framed this shot the pier in the foreground and the mountains in the background, the view is quite impressive. Well seen! Hope to see photo of your future canoeing expeditions...

It is an absolutely remarkable scene. The réflection and the depth of field demonstrates one a good technique. Very beautiful colours, really impressing.
I also like the ws of Joso or a part of the quay is cut.
C'est une scène absolument remarquable. La réflection et la profondeur de champ démontre une une bonne technique. Très belles couleurs, vraiment impressionnant.
J'aime bien aussi le ws de Joso ou une partie du quai est coupé.

wow... this is really great! seems like it's a reflection of whole life! when were you taking this photo? is it in the morning or in the day? and about the dock, i better to see it not cropped because it makes the photo not too simetric.
