[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This picture is of Tatoosh Island, which lies half a mile from my viewpoint at Cape Flattery on the farthest point on the north coast of the Olympic Peninsular. We drove the full length of the north coast, the last part of the way on an unmade road. Tatoosh Island is the most northwesterly point in the lower US. The island is part of the Makah Indian Reservation, but is not inhabited. The lighthouse is automated and is owned and operated by the U.S. Coast Guard. It marks the entrance to the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the passage from the open Pacific Ocean to Puget Sound. The isolation and relatively pristine condition of Tatoosh Island make it a sanctuary for marine animals. The white dots you can see round the cliffs are sea birds.
I changed to my 70-300mm lens to take a close up but include a wider angle version in the WS taken with the 24-120mm lens, so you can see the size of the island better

Hi Kath,
Fantastic landscape, I think it has a celtic feel to it like it would be in Ireland or Britanny. I like the way the details are shown and the nice colours. The workshop is also very good although I would corp the lower part and leave just the water.
A+
Daniel

Ciao Kath,
I dont know which version I prefer ..maybe the WS one is more evocative.. but the evidenced cape house is a plus in this one..
..however both are much beautiful!!
have a nice week-end , Fabio.

Hi Kath, good landscape and good composition, I like the lighthouse on its own with its red roof against all the greenery and sea around it. Well done!

Hi Kath,
What a scenary. Great composition here and excellente POV, showing most of the island and placing the house almost on the top. Beautiful colours too.
Take care.
Ricardo

Hi Kath, I like your PoV in taking this picture. Thank you for providing the wide angle view of the island. The combination of these two pictures provides a very nice introduction to the island. A well composed and picture. You have done a great job for this tele-lens zoom in picture. Nice contrast and good clarity. Well done.

looks really desolate place. The workshop is a very good addition to show us the real size of the place. Good work with the telelens. Nicely composed and interesting shot.

Belle ambiance sur cette photo , un endroit intéressant et depaysant , vivre dans ce petit coin du monde doit etre un experience intéressante . Belle image et belle lumiere .

Hey Kath, looks a little misty this one, I fancied doing a WS to improve the colours but although i made it more colourful I think it was too artificial. I especially like the lighthouse here, and after I read the note all the birds too!

well captured

I can feel the wind, hear the sounds of the sea...
I like this small lighthouse on the island.
Well done.
