Photographer’s Note
This plant was situated about 1500 feet down the rim. I thought that it must be growing with a strong will to cross the rim. I appreciated the ambition and captured the plant in such a way that the dreem came true in my photo.
The photograph was taken on the way to Indian Garden in south rim of the Grand Canyon. The name of this plant is Utah Agave or century plant. This species grows eight to 10 years, blooms only once, then dies. Here you see the flower of the plant. I was surprised to know that the flower stalk, shown here, can grow at a rate of over a foot a day.
