and they are very nice verticals at that. The grit of the city is well shown in your photo. The framing is great with the sky almost seriving as a light at the end of the tunnel (this impression given by the buildings). The symbols included are great, the sign. I rewally like the variety of sidewalk covers, making it a really cool and chaotic sidewalk surface.
I would only suggest cropping a tad tighter on the right, there's a partia human there that i find just a little distracting and does not seem to contribute too much to the overall photo.
The car driving through the photo is great.

Vertical and diagonals.
As the 'New Rome', New York is a geometrical town with the planification decided in 1811.
You captured very well those lines and the black and white mood gives to the shot something else, perhaps nostalgy.

Hi Cliff. A very nice b/w shot. I love the high contrast. I see very little distortion at all. Why didn't you have your D70 with you? Well done Cliff.

Good one Clifton, not an easy shot at all. With that gritty B/W making the best of digital noice, you have a quitessential Manhattan, NOT built on human scale (like Downtown...), and the tiny shadowy figures below back this up. Memphis it ain't, huh? Nice work! Francis

Hi Cliff,
This shot reminds me of a postcard from, say, the 1930's. The B&W motif is most effective, and I like the lighting very much. The manhole cover, different signs and the car headlights are all randomly lit and the people appear as silhouettes. The vertical format also works very well. A great capture of this cavernous city street.

I agree with the aged photo look. It really does look "not present-day". Great POV and contrasts. It has a great feel to it.
