Photographer’s Note

This is a shot from Fort Ticonderoga, in upstate NY, where last weekend they held the "Grand Encampment of the French and Indian War," a re-enactment of the Battle of Carillon, July 8, 1758, in which French and Indians under General Montcalm defeated a far superior force of British and colonials.

I submit this on Canada Day as Canada should consider this battle one of its greatest military triumphs, since Canada was French at the time. Also, these are almost all French Canadians here, portraying the victorious imperial army.

In the background is not a noisy sky, it is the water of Lake Champlain, named after the great French explorer Samuel de Champlain, the first European to see this place, in 1609.

PP: RAW to TIFF, then JPEG, increased color sat, sharpened, cropped.
