Photographer’s Note
This is the pier in Skagway, an Alaskan town of only 800 that answers the call of the Tourist Industry, playing host to over 700,000 visitors a year. As the massive cruise ships (with well over 1000 passengers each) draw anchor and set sail, it's remarkable to watch the hustle and bustle screech to a halt, once again leaving a quiet, small town in their wake.

This is a very intersting photo with a very good POV. The background mountains make the photo majestic. But the sun was catastrophical and ruined this fabulous photo. You should have used a higher speed, a filter or simply waited for the sun to set. Well done though and better luck for the next one!

There is a great sense of anticipation here, created perhaps by the diagonal lines of the pier contrasting with the peaceful mood and tones of the photo. Shooting into the sun is brave, but it works here very well, I feel.
