The Coast Guard Returns Photo

Photographer’s Note

I haven't posted any pictures for a while (I did critique a few pictures over the last couple of weeks, though), and it looks like I might not be able to post much for the next several weeks. I'm in the middle of teaching and running a month-long series of workshops for teachers and high school girls (technology and computer science), my Canon 10D got the dreaded Error 99 message for the second time in six months (it's in the shop now, getting its circuit board replaced), and I'm leaving for a twenty-day vacation in two weeks. I thought I'd post something just to keep my foot in the door.

This is one of the sunset shots I took at Menemsha, on Martha's Vineyard a couple of months ago. The Coast Guard vessel was returning to port, and I managed to catch a silhouette of it against the sunset.

I rotated the image slightly, cropped it, and sharpened and resized it before uploading.
