The bridge suspension Claiborne Pell (IH 138) connects Newport to the island of Conanicut. These principal characteristics are: Beginning of construction April 5 1966.Open to the traffic June 28 1969.
Total length 3430 m, length enters two main pillars 487 m.Height of the pillars 121 m, height maximum of apron 62 m.Diameter of the two cables 38 cm. Number of wires per cable 4636, Total length of the cables used 12'000 km.The bridge comprises 4 ways, 2 in each direction for a width total of 14.6 m.
You have a tax of 2$ to pass it.

Very similar to my night shot, Jacques, although you don't have all lights from a city on the other side to balance this image with. So your composition with the pillars - and especially the illuminated cables - toward the right edge, works well too. I like the effect you've got of the cars driving on the bridge, but I'm a bit surprised by your exposure f/4 & 2 seconds - where I used f/3,5 & 16 seconds - perhaps you used a higher ISO setting than I did. I guess 2 seconds give just the right amount of light. Very well done!

Salut Jacques,
Tu as choisi un bel angle de vue pour cet ouvrage dont on oublierait presque l'ampleur. Les luminaires guident notre regard vers ce double M qui semble couronner le tout. Le prix à payer pour cet éclairage urbain, est cette dominante jaune des lampes à sodium. Je me suis donc essayé à un petit atelier ...
