Photographer’s Note
If you've never been to San Francisco - down on the bay at Pier 39 (a big tourist spot on the wharf - with lots of shops, fresh seafood for sale, and the alcatraz jump off point to name a few) there is an area where Sea Lions make a resting place.
There are a bunch of little floating docks, as you can see pictured, clustered together that are now there only for the Sea Lions. And, boy are they a noisy crowd! You can hear these guys from pretty far away as you approach them. I can't say that they smell particularly well either, but they are GREAT fun to watch for a while. They are always "fighting" with one another, jumping in and out of the water, and out course making quite a racket.
I have other photos that are closeups of the Sea Lions, but I choose this photo because I think that it is more suited for this site. It gives you a feeling of what this little area in the bay looks like.

This is an amazing picture . There are some may seals in such a small area . I noticed some spots on the seals , are they physically well ? Is your harbor polluted like ours ?
Thank you for such a nice picture . Jim from Newfoundland

This is a great picture (composition, sharpness, colours, maybe a bit too bright sun light), unusual and funny at amusing at the same time. I didn't know sea lions like to be in city areas, I thought they prefer pure nature but this shot proves me so wrong! What a lazy bunch:)

I'm heading to San Francisco in just over a week and was searching TE for inspiration and ideas of where to go and this photo has provided me with both.
Great photo, slightly blown out at the very top but it really doesn't matter as you have managed to convey the quantity and closeness of the Sea Lions briliantly - thanks for sharing!
