We're now standing on top of the Hoover Dam on the Nevada half looking at the Colorado River way below us. It is a 727 ft (222m) drop to the water. Normally I try not to include power lines but since this place provides the power to the majority of the southwest I think I'll keep them in the shot! The buildings on the right I believe are for us visitors.
Just like the last picture from here it was taken around noon and it was somewhat hot out.
Also I'd like to wish everybody a Happy Easter!

Contrasting feelings give me this picture. On one side the beauty of nature (the deep canyoon, the blue river, the wild nature that needs thousands of years to become in this way); on the other side the hand of the man who breaks this harmony also if for a good purpose showing where he can arrive. The border between what is a good opera and what is a disaster I think is very very thin.

Hi Steve, I like the open, deep feeling you have provided in this photo, well, Steve style photo. The road in the distance away provided enough information of the winding road condition in the area. You have a great detail and sharpness in this picture. Well done.

Hi Stephe. The view is very impressive from this height. amazing colors and a wonderful light. this concrete wall on the right gives an idea how huge this dam is. Good shot.

It kind of funny in a way. how you mentioned how hot it was there. It does look hot there. Nice angle and details as well. I can see how your camera'a wide angle viewpoint has reall come in handy here.

Une photographie qui donne le vertige, la qualité du paysage et de la photo est excellente.
Les couleurs sont superbes ainsi que la netteté (il suffit de regarder la texture de la roche et du reste).
Very well done.

Another impressive view from Hoover Dam, Steve - your vantage point results in a deep perspective, and it is very interesting to explore this ensemble of natural and man-made elements. Great feeling of height conveyed by your point of view, I'm actually adding this into my second Vertigo theme. Happy Easter to you, too.

This are really very spectacular pictures.
Not only the amazing landscape but also the technical construction if the dam are very impressive.
Again excellent quality of the picture.

You mention it already in your note, but I wanted to say it too: the power lines aren't disturbing here! I like this view with the rough rocks and the nice colour of the water!
Happy Easter to you too!

Good work and frame in this presentation. First of all my happy Easter votes and my good critique to a nature world that don´t deserves any bad or insufficient words. In reality you captured a great view moment and with very good guidelines. You made your vision with all the details, and have also a nice Easter time.
Congratulations from me, Luis.

this is another gorgeous view from a well known building. It is fantastic to see a fusion of nature and human.

Wow, the construction of that power plant must have been something. The dryness of the rock and depth of the defile are exalted by the hard light.

My last posts are about a nice place with a lagoon and a little and little DAM. Here you have a great composition and frame about a moment and palce that you captured in detail and in a super-view. Great colors, textures, contrast and a wide zoom.
Excelent Stephen and my sincereally congratulations and I hope you have a happy Easter time.
Thanks for your great contribution:

I m glad that you have take pictures from my job which I m doing allmost 23 years and that is making electricity power.
On the Hoover Dam it is produced 1380 MW Power, and in my termal powerplant REK-Bitola it is produced 675 MW.
The chimney in our powerplant it is high about 250 meters.

Thanks for taking us close to this place - I beleive having heard of it (as power ingeenier) I like the feeling of height and the fine details you got as well - only natural for you to give us the powerlines - well done Stephen.

Amazingly beautiful photo! I haven't seen a picture taken from this angle. This is once again a very well taken shot with sharp colors and great contrast.

As I previously said, nothing is small in America. Something is missing in your picture that would give the right proportion of all this constructions.

Vertige !
