Photographer’s Note

Nuuanu stream, Oahu island, Hawaii
Most of the rivers on Oahu are not navigable. Nuuanu stream is a good example of what you'll find when you seek out the blue line on the map: a little babbling brook, covered by trees.
This picture was taken by the way in the middle of a major residential district of Honolulu. Suburb or not, you can find pockets of nearly untouched jungle everywhere, even downtown. The interesting thing is, even though such a pocket might be surrounded by a city quarter housing tens of thousands of people, only maybe one dozen, people will actually venture into it in a day, mostly young boys. Maybe it is less tiresome to watch Indiana Jones on the TV? :-)
