It was a cold day in Boston with chunks of ice floating on the Charles River, far less inviting outside than in the cozy atrium of the Boston Museum of Science where I took the photo. We were there to tour the exhibition, "Da Vinci: the Genius." Leonardo (1452-1519) was the quintessential Renaissance Man, master of all fields and an ornament to our species. The exhibition featured over 140 replicas of the great Florentine's inventions, notebooks, and a reproduction of his dozen or so paintings.
Most of us on Trekearth shoot photos of file size from a few Megapixel up to 16 Megapixels. The specialized camera invented by the French engineer Pascal Cotte shoots photos of 240 Megapixel file size. It peers into 14 different regions of the electromagnetic spectrum — from the ultraviolet to the infrared, as well as in the very short x-ray region. The camera was employed in studying the Mona Lisa. Previously unknown features were revealed, such as the under-drawing and Leonardo's habit of changing the design as he worked and the question of the missing eyelashes and eyebrows. They had originally been there but removed inadvertently by the cleaning of the painting's surface during the past 500 years.
The technology that went into displaying Leonardo's creations would have pleased the great master. The combination of the sun peaking between the clouds, its reflections on the Charles River, and seen through the tinted glass makes a compelling vision. It is my New Year's Greeting to all my friends at Trekearth. May 2017 signal health, happiness, prosperity and peace to all, and may it surprise us all with a return of common sense.
I shot the photo with my iPhone 6 Plus that would have even impressed Leonardo.

Hi Bulent, fantastic shot for the last post of the year...very interesting exhibition dedicated to Leonardo, one of the italian prouds most famous. There is a museum in Milan that show more like what you seen there, located in the Sforzesco castle. Very interesting to discover this camera working at 240 MP,but needs a big hard disk after...ehehe...i wish you all the best me too for the new year and thanks,Luciano

I am not surprised at all, with what you had written about cameras and the iPhone quality - I experienced this myself. The outcome of this beautiful modern indoor's scene is awesome, blue is blue and red is red and no distortion with lines and frame. Amazing.
Wish you and the family a Happy New Year.

Hello Bulent, very good view of the river with the reflection of the sun rising out of the clouds. Interesting composition well captured in this beautiful photograph. An interesting image with good clarity, light, color and quality. Very good and beautiful work perfectly done, my congratulations my friend. Thank you for sharing this interesting work.
Good night and happy weekend.
All the best from the south of Spain.
Happy New Year.

You managed to merge the views on the outside with those inside the museum very well. The rays of the sun, breaking through the clouds, seem to enter the building whereas the reflections of the lamps almost cut through the clouds. The trees are definitely outside and the persons inside. I think. It must have been a very interesting day for you at this exhibition.
I wish you too a Happy New Year (although personally I have very low expectations of 2017).

I read an article the other day about drawings and other portraits hidden beneath Leonardo's masterpiece, new evidence and theories are about to emerge and it seems that, apart from great pleasure and revered art lessons, the famous portrait has also given the world countless stories. Your picture is marvellous, I like very much the dramatic effect of the contrasts, the blending scenes, the captivating depth and the dramatic colours. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best and a Lovely New Year!

Bonsoir, cher ami Bulent,
Quelle bonne et heureuse idée que cette composition. C'est surtout le résultat général qui doit être complimenté, tous les pièges de la photographie sont réunis dans cette composition.
Très bon sujet fort bien présenté.

I was very happy to visit Boston in 2016, I really liked the city. We didn't have time for this museum though. We spent only two days in the city, but could easily have found things to do for several more days. The blue window shows the river and the city skyline so nicely and the rays of the sun are fantastic too. The museum visitors are also well included and add some nice warm tones. Have a great New Year's Eve and I wish you and Carol Jean all the best for 2017.

Hello Bulent, Thank you for the new year wishes and I also wish you, your family and all of us the same. Will be 2017 better than 2016?
Nice view from the museum. I am sure that you, who know all about Leonardo, were delighted to see this exhibition.
Lovely reflections, the dark branches looks a bit scary in this light.
Kind regrads Malgo

Hi dear Bulent
Your mobile phone seems to have so high specifications, presentation is very clear, even though up-speed takes time, hahaha. Very nicely and casualy taken shot but quality remains top level.
I hope to see you in Tokyo in 2017.
All the best and have a good last day in 2016! Takero

This is unique and beautiful. There is a lot to like about this photo: the blue color of the windows, the burst of sun and some reflections, the river outside. I like the bare tree branches and the people at the bottom of the frame, too. You composed this scene perfectly. We can only imagine what Leonardo might have created with a camera. Too bad that bit of technology came centuries later...Wishing you a Carol Jean a very Happy New Year! :-)
Royaldevon (43909) 2016-12-31 11:27
The scene may have been from in the museum but the focus is very much outside the building. The mood is quite amazing! The huge window is like the frame of a painting, surrounding a cool blue masterpiece of lights, reflections, buildings and a huge starry light.
I like it very much!
May I wish you and your family a happy and healthy 2017,

An informative text, and a great photo with a sharp juxtaposition of cold blue light and its reflections and the warm colour with living people in the foreground.
All the best for 2017, despite Mr. Trump!

It's amazing what a little cellphone can do these days. A very effective image, where there's a bit of trompe l'oeil going on with the reflections, merging and confusing interior and exterior in an intriguing way.
Happy New Year.
