Photographer’s Note
This was taken from the ferry to Mackinac Island. The Grand Hotel was built in 1887 as a summer resort for the wealthy and is still going strong to this day. In recent times it is perhaps most famous as the location for the 1980 movie Somewhere in Time starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour.
The 660 foot porch is reputed to be the world's longest. Almost unheard of in a hotel of this size, none of the 300+ rooms and suites are alike, each are themed and decorated uniquely.
