Although I had planned on posting a few more NYC pictures, my previous photo was a good reminder about a short series of architectural pattern that’s been sitting on my computers desktop for, oh…about 7 months now!? I figured it was high time to finally get them uploaded, and this seemed like a good segue…so here’s the first.
Crazy how I can be so easily influenced/misdirected to go with other themes, that it would take so long to finally have these…ooooh, hey…wait a minute, did you see that new picture? Yep, I have a short attention span. :) Now, what was I talking about?
Walking around downtown Phoenix a number of years ago, I came across the Convention & Visitors Bureau building which I found quite interesting in design. I’ve included a WS picture to give this main post a context. My eyes immediately went to the patterned exterior and geometric quasi-honeycomb appearance, which I thought would make for a fun “abtract’sh” image…so with no physical contortion required this time, I simply pressed the shutter and this is what came of it.
Thanks for stopping by.
* Website is not cooperating to allow the WS upload, will try again in the morning.
* 4:48 PST, still no luck with WS!?? Sorry folks.

Great abstract indeed! You captured and eye-catching pattern made of architectural details and their reflections. Well-spotted and used photo opportunity.

Hello Jason, Maybe better that Website is not cooperating with WS and our imagination can work. Great abstract pattern really. I like so many traingles in your picture. Well observed and masterfully done. Amazing view.

you knew I´ll love it!!!
Brilliant "abstract" study of Phoenix architecture and great perspective, whcih allows us to use our imagination. This is the way of perceiving our surrounding, that I really like and that you put into practise perfectly here!
Happy Hump Day my friend

Howdy Cowboy or is it Alley-cat now!
Always surprised that you do not post more images of Phoenix - your home town! If this is an example of some of the architectural gems - then I hope this critique stirs you into action big man. I love the symmetry here and the jaunty angle actually increases the effect so perfectly. A nice use of angles and shadows to give it impact and an abstract arty feel. "Quasi-honeycomb" what a great name for a punk band and another iconic Jasonism!
Hey! I googled Phoenix and you have some amazing looking buildings and places of interest. Get out in the currant bun and start exercising that over used shutter finger of yours!! :-))))
Thanks for your comments on my big pink one of a few days ago!

J'aime beaucoup le côté graphique de cette composition. Le point de vue en contre plongée donne de l'ampleur à l'ensemble. La lumière joue un rôle très important et fait bien ressortir les ombres.

A very artistic picture. These interesting architectural details provide a very good picture, like a work of modern art. Very attractively composed picture.

Daylight played with a simple returning pattern over the balconies, Jason, created a fine view that you spotted marvelousely.
Sharp details and a reflection nicely collected.

Nice abstract shot. The pattern itself is interesting, but I also like the reflections. The windows are so clear that it almost seems like an optical illusion. It feels like I'm looking through a honeycomb wall, with that brown building on the other side.
ourania (25532) 2014-03-19 13:35
this is a fascinating grid, compact and airy at the same time, graphical and elegant. There's a steady and delightful rhythm or rather several rhythmical patterns that we can follow separately or combine. I like very much the colour definition and how surprising the blue and beige tones look among the blacks and whites. I also like the play or repeating patterns, none is exactly the same as any of the others. An urban abstract that's very well composed and framed. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,

Yes, definitely a pattern that makes this photo almost abstract - me likes it! Very eye-catching and pleasant.

when i log into your gallery page, i can't help but keep staring at that damn bull who's glaring straight into my eye like he's going to eat me! lol
I know exactly what you mean about having the pics on the laptop waiting to be posted...i'll put 3 or 4 up and i'll say to myself - these are my next posts....but then none of them get posted lol

Hi dear ADB
Seems you've caught the Abstractosis Disease too. It's contagious and that's a good thing. The tight framing, the graphism and the play of light and shade all look great in that vertical frame. I posted something similar to this ages ago, I think I called it On The Razor's Edge...great vulgarian minds think alike...eh?
Nice work, I reckon this would be a corker in B&W too!
PS: Sorry I've been AWOL

An excellent abstract photo. The light and shadow play is superb, the patterns outstanding. There are also nice reflections in the glass windows.

Bien vu le cadrage serré avec le jeu ombre qui accentue l'effet graphique, bravo pour le coup d'œil et la réalisation, tant pis pour le WS :-)
