Photographer's Note

Laguna Mission Church was built in 1699 in the Pueblo of Laguna, New Mexico. It is 45 miles west of Albuquerque close to the historic Route 66 which bisects the pueblo land. Visiting or photographing the pueblo can only be done with local permission. We were not allowed inside or to walk closer to the entrance. However, a very friendly man allowed us to take photographs from a distance. It is constructed of stone, adobe, mortar and plaster.

Pueblos are communities of native Americans in south-west USA. The buildings are of stone, adobe mud mixed with other materials. Adobe is a mixture of sand, clay and water mixed with sticks, straw and sometimes manure.
