A second picture from Cloudgate, Millenium Park, Chicago. The first one is shown here
Anish Kapoor is the Indian-born UK artist that designed the sculpture which is nicknamed 'The Bean'. It was built in 2004-2006 of 168 highly polished stainless steel plates with no visible seams. It is 10 x 20 x 13 metres and weighs 110 tons.
Cloudgate is always busy with people photographing themselves and others reflected in the polished surface.

good opportunity to have at the same time a double portrait of smiling girls and their back reflection in the artist master piece!

By Gum, we've just uploaded our pictures almost simultanously today!
Ah, yes, I remember well a previous photograph you had shown us of a little girl here, under the "Bean" and reflected in it, but this one, in my opinion, is a much superior photograph. Your previous picture was just a little on the dull side but this one is vibrant with glorious lighting, really "punchy" and with very well controlled light.
It would have been all too easy for the faces of these two girls to have been overly bright or "blown out" but we can see full details throughout their faces and clothing as well as in their reflection too. I suspect that you've had to do some very expert (though not necessarily complex) processing work here to retain such a wonderful light balance.
A very nicely taken shot (?did you ask their parents' permission?), very natural and with wonderful light and colours and exquisite details and sharpness.
With that skin and hair colouring, do you think they were Scottish?
P.S. Having gone back and looked at the picture of the little girl under the "Bean", I've just noticed that you had added a link to it in your note!

il rtitratto già è bello da sè per la presenza delle due graziose modelle, ma la tua bravura emerge nell'originalità della ripresa che le raddoppia grazie alla presenza della superficie riflettente creando una composizione di particolare efficacia.
Ciao e buona aserata

I see that you did not hesitate to re-use the same location. The photo is nice even if the two girls are a little dazzled.

wonderful colours, light and quirky reflection.

I like both shots.
Each shows different personalities, which is important to capture in portraits.
This is nicely composed, the girls looking into the camera but also towards the space; of course, it also makes a nice diagonal with the reflection.
My warm regards,

What an excellent idea to include the reflection! Most people would just take a snap of the kids for the family album and you came up with a captivating travel shot. Great work.

Hi Ann. A sunny, bright, happy image that is a double treat with the clever use of the reflections.Nice composition with the girls forming a right angled triangle (partially.) Best wishes. Klaudio.

I don't know who your models were, but they seem happy enough to pose for you. The resultant double portrait works very well, with the distorted reflection offering a nicely-balanced counterpoint to the main focus.

Very pretty girls and good reflections in the large sphere. The way they sit and the way they are reflected, a very good balance is provided. And colours too!

Wow! So funny photo with this amazing reflection, it makes me smile. Very interesting scene, her red hairs remind me Ireland, good capture of a daily life scene.
Best wishes from the Olympic country,

lovely and sweet photo with a light and happy mood. The bright pink tracksuit of one of the girls makes the shot pop out. I like their poses, reddish hair and cheerful smiles. Well captured!
Have a great week!

I had the pleasure to photograph this fantastic sculpture as well (CLICK HERE to see it). It is really extraordinary. In fact we have another piece of work by the same artist in Middlesbrough which I did not present here yet but it was already shown by emka and MJR. M'bro has a much less interesting work I believe.
Very cute models here, they add so much joy and color to the scene. The reflection is the highlight of course being in quite an unexpected position.
worldcitizen (9144) 2014-02-25 9:53
I never get tired of reflections. :-) You captured these cuties in a wonderful, warm sunlight, and I really like the way you cropped the scene. The fact that they are both redheads adds that extra bit of color, too.
delpeoples (59426) 2014-02-28 17:04
Hi dear Ann
Awww I love redheads and these 2 cuties are jst too adorable for words. Even better, we get 4 for the price of 2! I love how you got the reflections here, giving a completely different perspective to the reality. Wonderful bright colours too - I love kids photos in colour. Thanks for sharing, have a beautiful weekend.
