One of the reasons people visit Yellowstone National Park is wildlife viewing. Lamar Valley (where this picture was taken) is the best place to go. This wide, expansive valley is home to bison, elk, coyote, bear and even wolf. I saw people were sitting in collapsible chairs with binoculars patiently waiting. It’s too boring to me. The beautiful landscape is my top priority. We did see some elks, wild goats, and bisons on several occasions throughout the park.

A very good view with these impressive animals. This must be a very beautiful road! I have tried to find it on Google street view, but I saw no buffaloes along the road. A very fine and interesting picture!

Well, we are neighbors in today's gallery and we post similar topics, national parks.
Your photo has nice composition with bison in the foreground and the road leads sight to the mountains on the horizon. Perfect clarity, colors, light.
photoray (13981) 2014-01-27 6:50
Interesting scene with the bison meandering across the highway on the flat plains with the distant mountains rising skyward.
On my last Yellowstone visit, I became very frustrated with tourists parking on the highway to watch animals. Long lines of cars blocked from moving were the result. To make it worse, the Park Rangers were giving traffic tickets to anyone trying to drive around the jerks parked on the roads. I can not understand why the tourists did not pull off the road to park, and why the Rangers did not give them tickets if they parked on the travelled way?
Anyway, I plan to go in the winter next time and avoid the crowds.

Hello Tiffany ,
The wide , long , and empty roads of the wild west , as can we imagine them in ours dreams . And with the bisons , this is yet better !
Romano46 (18472) 2014-01-27 7:22
Ciao e buona settimana

Hello Tiffany, this is one amazing photo. IMO you were very fortunate to see this beautiful beasts. The one on the left seems to be looking right at you. Amazing take, well done.
ikeharel (74843) 2014-01-27 7:57
What a moment, what an encounter, Tiffany.
A well taken photo of those big Bisons, look as masters of the road, and of course - you were the visitors on their territory.
Blue sky and green field, with the mountains on far, all culminate to a wonderful scene.

I imagine what you feel when you visit such wonderful place and meet that survivor miss Tiffany. They were close to extinction, that picture is a post card to my eyes and enhance so much Yellowstone beauty, the oldest national park in the world, congratulations, see you!

You were in a privileged position to take this image, at least protected, I guess. This is a nice capture of these bisons alongside the road, making for some nice focal points. The composition is very good with the highway providing a nice lead into the landscape. A great shot, flawlessly executed.

this is a park thats been on my radar for some time now...i'll get there someday soon.
I agree with you, I wouldn't be sitting around, it'd be a better experience to drive around and enjoy the beautiful scenery and take some photos that way.
cool shot here with the long road to lead us in.
Did you experience many bugs/flies/mosquitos?
carlo62 (52194) 2014-01-27 14:38

It amazes me that bisons go to those parts of the national park where there's traffic. Without even knowing much about bisons, I assumed that they were much shyer. But this was pretty good for you.
Very beautiful scenery. Excellent depth.
Best regards, Paul

Salutations.

Beautiful compo, giving a very good impression of wild wild west under the blue sky! Great capture shows just who is really in charge there LOL. They are a most powerful beast and am amazed at their size, I love the vivid detail, colour and contrast. Wonderful photo and tx for sharing, Congrats
chawax (20758) 2014-01-28 10:36
Wow, it must be quite impressive to meet this kind of wild animals ! Very good POV. You used very well the lines of the road to add depth and the bisons add life to the scene.
boa (7543) 2014-01-28 13:29
a great shot from this magnificent National park. I have never seen bisons in their natural habitat, but it would be worth the trip to Yellowstone if i saw them. Beautiful is a good description for this landscape:)
Excellent depth, colors and clarity, tfs!

mirosu (16273) 2014-01-29 1:44
Excellent snapshot, superb landscape. The composition with the road leading towards the mountains and the two bison crossing it is perfect. The light and clarity is superb.
Didi (60590) 2014-01-29 16:33
Very interesting subject

In France farmers has imported bisons we have about 1500 in our countries
kwekwekan (1078) 2014-01-29 16:47
Great situation of the bison to add extra life to this pleasant and well composed Wyoming landscape. Nice clarity, contrast and colours as well.
nikkitta (17066) 2014-01-30 12:00
Quite agree with you, boring to seat and wait, good to wander and find them with greats views of the mountains at the back and the road going to them, adding deep at the capture
I posted a similar capture of a caw in Paraguay
Just in case Happy new Year 4712!
Subhogen (4067) 2014-01-31 0:53
The road cutting across the amazing landscape would have made a fine picture, but the bison that you were able to add to the composition makes it great! It provides for an attractive FG and the BG is beautiful too with those mountains. Spectacular photo, thanks for sharing.
Cricri (122669) 2014-02-02 8:31

Wonderful moment to capture, and even more so that the animal is looking right at you like this, almost as if he is questioning you! The road has such depth into the landscape, and of course the landscape beyond is incredible.
Thanks as always
mesutilgim (96332) 2014-02-10 6:48
I didn't have yet the chance to write any critics or comments yo your entries here at TE ; you have many interesting and photographycally perfect captures in your pages.
This one is my favorite today ! As we also often face similar cases when driving in countryside.
But looking to the quite empty road, most probably they are still safe !
TFS and best regards from İstanbul

Kamilutka (8107) 2014-05-19 17:21
you should count yourself lucky to be blocked by these magnificent animals :-) I would probably spend hours trying to take as most of the picture as I could. The one you are presenting in here is quite extraordinary as it has two bisons at the same time in the frame. They seem to be not very much disturbed by the idle traffic. Well composed and with beautifully saturated colors.
Thanks for sharing
