I live in Asheville, North Carolina ~ a small town in the southern highland mountains of Appalachia. The world's third oldest river, the French Broad, runs through town in its way north. And our Blue Ridge Mountains (over 1 billion years old) are also among the oldest in the world ~ second only to the Barberton greenstone belt in South Africa. (By comparison, the Himalayas are positively young.) It is said we have more biodiversity in one square mile than is to be found in all of Europe.
Perhaps because of its very special geography and geology, Asheville has a long history of attracting artists, musicians, and creative individuals. So even though I love to travel, I need only walk downtown to discover people with unusual hair and styles of dress. And for the most part (as you may already know from other shots in my gallery), our natives are very friendly and don't mind being photographed ;)
So here you go, rigoletto ~ the man with the turquoise hair :)

A cool portrait of a cool dude, and that's a mop of hair that would get anyones attention! You know when I first saw your title, my first thought was, I wonder if he is related to the girl with the dragon tattoo :)
The backdrop for this portrait is perfect too, emphasizing the artistic connections you make in your note!

my my my, this indeed is not a wig! hurry kris! go tell that guy to stop dyeing his hair like that, or he may suffer baldieness in the future! or, living in asheville, being a baldie or owning turquoise hair does not make sense in terms of attractiveness, and he might be well aware of it... anyway... actually, ignoring his hair, he looks like a neat engineering student, ignoring his face, he looks like tsubasa from angel tales :))

At the first glimpse I thought "Oh, what a bright turban", then I remembered you telling us about this guy, so I should have expected him to turn up any day.He looks like a nice young man trying hard to look different. I mean, who would like to look just like any other guy with orange or purple hair?
Nice portrait, certainly.

Good evening Kristin,
You know, it wasn't that long ago this would have been completely outrageous, but my oh my how things have changed. I'm not shocked any more by the hairstyles, but this one because of the color has really taken on a life of its own! :) I think because it's a guy is what really got my attention...I mean, I can see this from a Lady Gaga or the likes, but I'm not even sure Marilyn Manson would go for this color pallet!?
Even though he may have posed for this portrait shot, it still holds your ability and eye for the candid and even unusual. A simple moment in time, but there certainly feels to be a genuine interest between subject and photog...none of that fashion model nonsense of just going through the motions for show. Props to this guy for being bold enough to rock that hair! Keep bringing us more from your hometown, love that local connection. All the best for 2014.
