Photographer's Note

Zion National Park is one of Nature's masterpieces.
This view is from an excellent campground on the Virgin River with the Watchman mountain in the background.

The Ancient Ones - Native Americans first started inhabiting the Zion area in Utah about 8,000 years ago. Mormons were the first whitemen to inhabit Zion starting in 1858. In 1909, President William Howard Taft approved protection as Mukuntuweap National Monument. In 1919 the U.S. Congress approved it as a National Park with a name change to 'Zion'.
