This is another picture from our 2012 trip to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons in winter. We were travelling with 'Photoventures' from Jackson Hole to West Yellowstone. The first part of the road took us over the Teton Pass at 8,431 feet towards Victor in Idaho. The conditions were poor but the road remained open. We stopped at the summit and saw these hardy snowboarders trudging up the mountains so that they could make their descent. The Grand Teton National Park is connected to Yellowstone National Park and animals are free to roam. The Tetons are part of the Rocky Mountains and are distinctively jagged. I will post a picture of them soon.

The diagonal slope with the well placed snowboarders helps give the image strength. The image is well exposed despite the abundant white stuff. Not a trek I would wish to make!

It is so nice to look at this photo, warm and cosy in front of my computer, a steaming mug of coffee in my hand :)
I love the diagonal, Ann. Not only does it provide a line of interest, but it also emphasizes the hard slog through the deep snow and elevation gain.
I've seen the Grand Tetons, but only in the summer, and only from the Jackson Hole vantage point. This is absolutely lovely.
btw, how did you like the 'Photoventures' experience? I have not heard of them, but am intrigued by the name :)

I like the diagonal of your image. I'm not a big fun of winter but images with it I like.
Have a good week.

This is a fine composition with a natural diagonal. Winter has also given you a naturally partly desaturated view where only the small red and yellow details provide any distinct colours. The fresh snow covering the trees and the ground looks terrific, and rather cosy, but it takes a tough effort to climb this steep hill.

We both posted pictures from Wyoming, but totally different. Jackson Hole is closer to Grand Teton than Yellowstone. It's one of the top winter destinations in U.S. Your beautiful picture shows exactly that.

Another lovely photograph from your Yellowstone trip - and it's snowing again!
A fine diagonal composition with the three snowboarders walking or climbing upwards in single file, well spaced and, although they themselves are dressed in black, their snowboards are colourful and, in fact, provide the only real colour in what is almost a monochrome scene. Hardy fellows!
Lovely light, fine tones and contrasts and excellent details and sharpness, especially when wiewed at full size of 1300 pixels wide.

a really nice pic.love the sense of adventure in this pic,and the harsh conditions with the snow and the inclined terrain.great pov.must be so fulfilling to be there.

The slope of the snowy hillside does make the most perfect separation line between the two very contrasting snowy, textural areas. The figures (three is great for composition) animate the scene so well and add information about the conditions.
Have a great day,

une magnifique composition d'hiver.J'aime beaucoup la présence des promeneurs, et les couleurs amenées par les skis.

a reminder of how it will be within a short time-snow! I don`t like cold winters to be honest but i like this picture. The fine diagonal composition has been mentioned before, and i agree. The snow covered trees create a nice atmosphere. And the three struggling men..i hope it was worth the effort, brr:)
Have a nice evening.

Ciao Ann, graet winter view with a lot of snow, lovely composition with couple in action, splendid light and wonderful season atmosphere, very well done, my friend, have a good week end, ciao Silvio

The action and effort of the people are well caught. The heavy snow on the tree branches makes a perfect winter image and the light adds the wintery mood.
