Boat Among Celestial Spheres
Almost seven months have passed since I posted #5 in the series, "Study in Colors." Early in 2013 I had attended an exhibition in Richmond, Virginia of the works of glass artist Dale Chihuly. While the earlier images I had posted in the series were reminiscent of imagined vegetation on a distant world, this one is different. For me it is evocative of boats navigating between celestial spheres.
Dale Chihuly is known to his legion of fans for the exquisite colors that he achieves in his blown glass creations. The collaboration of painters and glass blowers is not a new phenomenon. In the early 16th century, the Venetian Master Titziano (Titian) had collaborated with the glassblowers on the Island of Murano near Venice to learn about their secrets in achieving certain colors, especially the reds. Subsequently, Raphael hired away one of Titian’s assistants and his colors became more vibrant, especially the reds. Three-hundred and fifty years later, the French Impressionists were able to get their hands on oxides produced in exceedingly hot furnaces used in the Industrial Revolution. Cross fertilization of disciplines frequently leads to immense creativity.
I have been traveling a great deal lately, and have shot several thousand photos in the United States, the Middle East, Europe and the Mediterranean. But with this image, I am completing the series "Study in Colors." Photos were allowed in the exhibition, but the use of tripods was not. After this I will return to photos I have been shooting in my travels.

amazing shot, that immediately attracts our attention!
Just love the combination of so strong, vivid colors and completely black backdrop of the scene-it makes the scene even more expressive and strong!
Have a nice day

As Krzysztof says above, the eye cannot but be drawn to this amazingly colorful scene, and to match the interest of the color we have the interest of all these shapes and designs. The boat in particular is great, all those flames of color leaping out, and how cool that its all presented on this reflective black and white surface!
All the best

A scene I would have rather placed to Murano in the Veneto than to the midwest in the US.
Those colorful glasses in all their psychedelic colors certainly makes for a great subject and the black background fits the colors very well.
have a great day

Selamlar Bülent Bey,
It was interesting to read your note to this photo. I enjoy learning little tidbits about photos I find myself looking at.
I like your return to the study of colors. This one is particularly exciting because it feels as though a mythological event is unfolding before our eyes. The colors you have chosen to study are very pleasant as well as the shapes they are complimenting. TFS a quality photo, as usual.
PS. Apparently, Senede Bir Gün has three versions floating around. I was fortunate enough to suffer through only one.

Hello dear Bulent,
Beautiful composition with these beautiful creations of glass. All these beautiful colors that contrast against the black background. An explosion of shapes and colors that are reflected on the glass support. Very nice colored with a large graphic impact picture. A beautiful work of art and a very interesting note. I love it!
All the best to you Carol Jean, Delilah and Amelia.

What a stunning piece of art! Such glass decorations must be quite tedious to make and there are so many there. And set with excellent artistic eye. You chose a good angle on them and this exposure shows details clearly.

You couldn't have chosen a better subject than this to illustrate your theme. The lighting is wonderful and the black BG really enhances the vivid colours. Good tight framing and lovely clarity.
Kind Regards, Ann

Looks vaguely familiar to a wall chart of the solar system with the blue planet Earth foremost then red Mars and then Venus, and then bringing up the rear, Jupiter. The boat with the colorful arrays of streamers adds interest. Tfs!

Merhaba dear Bulent
Wow, what a stunning image. You shot it beautifully, under what look to be difficult light conditions. I love the textures, the sense of the three dimensional and of course (perhaps above all) the superbly rendered reflections. Good to see you travelling. I call Malgo Emka Signora Itchy Feet, maybe I should call you Signor!
