Last night we had what is called a 'blue moon'... The second full moon in the month of August. I am always taking shots of the moon trying to get a perfect one, but so far I have been unsuccessful. I thought this was pretty neat, though. Such a pretty shade of pink for a 'blue moon'.. :)))

it's good to find you here again. I've not been about here much lately but will try to get into TE again as there's some good and kind people on here that I like to keep in touch with.
This image strikes me so much as an illustration in a children's story book, all that is missing is the cat on the roof and an owl silhouetted by the moon. And what a lovely moon. It has the pink of a pearl.

hello Shelly, You were here very successful. fantastic view of the pink moon coming from behind the roof. Like Bev, I would like to see here the black cat sitting on the chimney :). There is some mystery in this picture. Splendid.

The moon is such an interesting focal image as you are almost guaranteed a contrast with the b/g. Here, the lack of distracting features is a bonus, as we concentrate on the moon and its relationship with the roof. It could so easily be the front cover for 'It was a dark, dark night'!
Have a lovely day,

I think you've hit it here with the photograph, Shelly ~
I very much like the blue and pink undertones of this shot, the rose shades of the moon repeated in the chimney bricks, the roof shingles and window appearing to have a blueish tinge in the moonlight -- coincidentally, I just posted a photograph with the same two colors, so that might be 'coloring' my thoughts ;)
And I love the slam-on close-up pov.
What a whimsical capture, it looks like it could be an illustration for a delightful children's book, the story is already unfolding inside my head :)
Thanks for sharing!

Wow, what a beguiling, atmospheric photo, with a hint of fantasy about it. The pink moon looks superb, so huge behind the tree. You've got good detail in the roof and the charming little attic window, and the close crop is just right to bring out the essentials. BTW, have you heard the song 'Pink Moon' by the very late, great Nick Drake? I swear, you'll like it. And there's so much more.

A very attractive picture, very close to a painting. A very artistic composition with these few, but well coordinated colours. Beautiful!

I get the same idea as some others before me that this could be an ilustration for a children's book. Any child would get excited by these colours and distinct details. In fact, any adult would like this too. You captured a tremendous blue hour and blue moon atmosphere in a remarkably well composed shot.

Damn, Shelly, that's a great shot... I would have expected to see that you used a much longer lens, but the EXIF says only 210mm... I am not bothered by the noise in the sky or the roofing -- it gives a great texture to the scene!
One small technical correction to your note, however -- this was not the second full moon of the month, which would be impossible on the 19th. It is correctly called a "Blue Moon" under the other way that term is defined -- the fourth full moon in any 3-month-long season. Your Moon is bigger than Belgrade's one. It is so close to chimney. Or it is sleeping inside the tree. On that light your Nikon was superb tool. Two smiles for your idea and creation, dear Shelly.

Great shot of the moon peeping from behind the roof. The light, the colors, the neatness, the depth are exceptional.Well done.TFS.

I like the flattened perspective from the zoom. Good sharpness and superb warm versus cold color contrasts between the blue and the pink. Effective tight framing and excellent repetition of the tile patterns in the roof. The chimney and angular attic add interest. Tfs!

Immense capture with wonderful effect as the pink moon in a real draw to the eyes. Your processing is so appealing, the tones is sensational along with strong well defined foreground albeit the low light and without doubt, its a stunner. All the elements seem to flows so well here, a kind of shot Alfred Hitchcock would love to view. Congrats

Of course the moon put on its nicest getup for the fancy dress evening party!
However I have to warn you for the next full-moon cycle; beware of warewolves!!
