Santa Monica Pier funfair, Los Angeles, California.
No tripod, deliberately. Instead I tried hand-holding, and moving the camera during a long exposure. The flashing and moving lights add another dimension of abstraction. You will have to tell me if you think it works...
Another film photograph, scanned @ 4000 dpi on a Nikon dedicated film scanner, thanks to my one-time place of work.

Impressive result with these lights and colors, a result like an abstract painting, good idea for an original photo, tfs.

A wonderful idea and one that paid off well. A fine surreal artwork. I can eily see this framed in a modern gallery. This is why I love this site, the sharing of great ideas like this.

i sometimes happen to think that lack of creativity on TE is due to the general unawareness about what people can do with their minds & cameras. actually, TE is more about teaching & learning, and they have TL for creativity issues, but this site has unfortunately gained an orthodox dullness in recent years. it can be a more fun place if we keep on both sticking to the motto & rules while keeping on doing experiments like this. of course i don't say "always shake your camera" but creativity has many sides if you have a bit of it in you.

Hi Wiil, Interesting experiment and fantastic result. What colours! Looks like modern abstract painting. it works very well. And why should one carry tripod when without it the result can be so wonderful.

Pleasure in experimentation. The result would make a superb book cover, i.e. abstract but not quite, the playful lines and colours suggesting the subject.

It works for me very well. I tried something similar on the pier and got quite different images. I enjoy the layers of patterns in this and the streaks of colour.
Kind Regards, Ann

what a fantasy of colors and lines and movement.

fun, playful capture!
