Interesting rock formations and Indian petroglyphs found in this unusual state park called Valley of Fire. This is at Atlatl Rock near the campground. Not too bad an image for being handheld.

Very nicely done -- the FG-to-BG composition is nice, from the finely-shown petroglyph to the fire-colored stone.

"Leaving Las Vegas"
I suspect most visitors to the Vegas Strip miss out on this truly excellent geological and historical park?
Your view of the petroglyphs is eye catching because it includes the varying geometrical lines and colors.
And I missed seeing these guys, but did witness the numerous petroglyphs behind the protective glass screen.
There is also a trail with Valley of Fire that goes to a movie setting "The Professionals" starring Burt Lancaster, Lee Marvin and Claudia Cardinale.
I will be returning to Vegas next month, not to gamble to embark on rafting the length of the Grand Canyon.
Have an excellent Summer,

This is a very interesting picture. We can feel a mood in this historic place.
Moreover, your composition, with the "wheel" on the foreground, is good, and the golden tones are nice.

Having seen the close up, this wider shot gives us a greater idea of the context and landscape of this beautiful place. Excellent vertical frame, sharpness and rich tones.

Hi dear Karen, how are you?
Very moody and fantatsic image as usual.
What and how a magical and mysterious color can be found, caught and conveyed to us?!?
Best framework and well balanced composition are as always as tasteful.
Thanks a lot and have a good weekend!

love the reds and the ochre of the rocks, luck you get to a place like this to get these kind of fiery hues...cheers

Well the petroglyphs are quite impressive and remind me not surprisingly of Aboriginal rock-art that I've seen in Australia. But for me it's the near-abstract patterns you've captured, not to mention the breath-taking colours. Beautifully managed.

The red rock really catches attention. The close framing has shown some lovely shapes in the rock and the petroglyphs can be clearly didtinguished. An interesting and well taken image.
