Some pictures taken during a business trip to New York City in September 1985.
The image was originally shot on Agfa CT21 slide film and has since been transferred to digital. Apologies for any shortcomings and lack of sharpness due to age and the transfer process.

What a great, graphical image this is...amazing to know this was taken so long ago. I've been processing a lot of older prints recently, so I certainly appreciate the nostalgia. This actually looks really good considering it's age, and you certainly had an eye for it even back then! This looks fantastic in black & white, it has strong contrast to enhance the lines and block nature of the architecture. I noticed your previous post of NYC as well from back in '85, I'm sure to comment on that one also. Thanks for sharing these pictures.

un B&W molto deciso che crea dei contrasti molto forti e proprio per questo colpisce l'attenzione.
Ottima anche la scansione, forse sono state perse delle tonalità di grigio, ma il risultato è molto bello.

If I am not so wrong, Stephen, this picture taken from the corner of 40th street and lexington Ave. due NE.
The black building was known as Boroughs-building and the other is the known Crysler building.
Even with time passed, the pic. has good outlines, and clarity, B&W by choise even helped a lot here.
Recollection of many memories to me, there was a time I lived around this streets.

Bonjour, cher ami Stephen,

A very curious geometry.
The black and white increase this emotion.

Wow! I lived in the States back in 1982/83... by that time I just passed by NYC and didn't visit Manhattan, for example. Good to see those pictures of the Big Apple taken a long time ago! Special regars here to the vertical formta, black & white and composition!

Now thats a beauty of a shot! I love modern architecture, and even more so when it is on an epic scale like this. The point of view is perfect to include two towers of such majesty, and black and white is a perfect choice. Stunning architectural shot.
All the best

I like it - fantastic perspective & the presentation of black & white is very nice.
I think the photo is remarkable seeings you took the image back in 1985 - I bet back then you never thought that you would be presenting this photo on a site like TE.

Hi Stepehn, Excellent photo made so long time ago. Superb choice of black and white. I like the view of my favourite Chrysler building, impressive view of this wall full of windows and shadow on it.

I must to say that NYC didn't change from 1985 and I saw today the same buildings with the Chrysler Center on the background. I Like your archive photos, good way to get comparison with fresh images.
Best wishes from NYC!
