This is the Jewish Contemporary Museum, a must see if you have any interest in fascinating architecture.
Not your typical building, its almost diamond shaped, and its outer shell is composed of over 3000 Blue Steel panels, all individually installed. And depending on the light during the day, the severity of the sun will turn these panels into varying shades of color.
In the top left portion, you can see its a royal blue, the middle area is mostly black, and there hints of green/aqua along the bottom.
Placed among these panels are small windows. You can see 4 windows in this abstract composition, and i was lucky enough to capture a bright white building across the street in a reflection. I wasn't even aware of that until i viewed the photo the next day :)
An amazing piece of man-made architecture.
Thanks for looking
As requested by Sevy, i've just included a WS photo. Its a little bit wider of an angle, but its the only other photo i have of it.

Very surprising view view the pattern of the pannel and the subtle variety of tones. I like you included the lighted window to break the pattern inside the composition.
Will you post a wider view later in order we can see what it is, or in WS?

These picture is a little abstract with the panels as this pattern.
The diamond shaped care for a good arhitecture picture.
Composition and presentation are nice.
Very well done, TFS.

This is a most intruguing photograph and the workshop you have provided (at the request of Yves) has now put everything in perspective in my mind because at first I thought that this might even be an interior shot with the light streaming in through those windows from outside. But now all is clear!
An almost abtract image, the colours and textures as well as the lines of composition are all superb. The sheen off those steel panels is lovely and, as you say, it passes through all colours and shades from black to steely blue and green/blue. Once more, the HDR effect has been very subtly and expertly done, a sign of considered and painstaking processing.

I'm so glad that you gave us such detailed information in your notes or it would have been difficult to appreciate the subject of the photograph.
I love your clever composition, making an attractive pattern of the diamonds, with a variance of hues denoting light and shade. The strongly positioned reflection is enigmatic; it took me a while to understand it!
Have a lovely day,

A picture with beautiful lines in it and
a picture with double depth.
The colors are also very nice, I remember
the Royal blue that I used when I was
10-14 years old and I maked modelships
from Matchbox (like Revell in America).
Sorry for my story, bak to the picture...
Composition and light management are
also great and the windows are a very

I love the angle you've chosen to take here Craig, and find your presentation of the Museum Building to be very abstract and artistically composed. The colors are so un-real, till you see the windows of reflections, which brings everything into perspective. Just an excellent job here Criag, BRAVO!!

great compo on this modern design building.
I discovered it by chance because one of the persons who was with me wanted to go over there.
this part of san francisco is not so known and visited like Pier 39 but it has a great fascination

raszid62 (18515) 2012-04-19 1:03
Fantastic mosaic on the wall. The squares are the small windows through which you can see the green trees outside. A great geometric composition.
josepmarin (58087) 2012-04-19 3:33
I love the abstract effect that you have reached in this good composition, because of a very well select framing.
You have caught the dihedral one formed by both planes of the building, with different color, and with four windows that break the graphical monotony of the ensemble.
In addition, the reflections of the white building and of some green trees in two of these windows, adds a powerful graphical effect at this great photo.
An impeccable work, my friend.
sacavem (18620) 2012-04-19 14:13
Very beautiful this one.Excellent perspective and very well composed, perfect.
delpeoples (56084) 2012-04-20 2:56
This is very Juanesque. Love the graphism, the dark blues and black tones and the play of light and shadow. The tight framing makes it almost an abstract. Top job, hope you're enjoying your holidays.
korbee (6617) 2012-04-20 12:05
The most interesting about this photo is that you van look at it for hours and hours, still not knowing what it exactly is,could be a close up of leather furniture or something ;+]
The sharpness is stunning.
ChrisJ (107161) 2012-04-21 2:12
Good use of repetition of the geometric patterns & shapes & always great to have one different to break the pattern & add interest as is seen here, with the solitary green diamond amongst the blue. Tfs!

Ciao Craig, fantastic graphic, lovely composition with beautiful sfumature of light in pannels, wonderful soft colors, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Observant as usual you have found an interesting angle and crop that is full of strong graphic elements. The metallic colours and small windows certainly show interesting elements of this contemporary building. Very well done.
willperrett (9027) 2012-04-25 3:06
I love the abstract quality and graphic intelligence of this image: sorry I missed it when you first posted. The couple of reflective panels give the image a real lift: I think without them, it would not have been half the photograph.
Thanks for your supportive comments about objective critiquing: I've now had another posting from Silvio dedicated to me, so he's not too put out!

you really got the eye for this one! including an image to the workshop is intelligent, at least we get to know what you were trying to show us here. Love the colors, the sleekness, and the elegant feel of this architecture. Nice play with lines, and shapes, good composition, excellent framework and cropping. Fabulous!! I really love this one!
see you around!

Been a while since I last visited your page & it was difficult to choose a picture to comment. I found this strong graphic abstract very appealing. Thanks to your WS, I was able to have some idea about the building. The composition has been well done with the strong diagonal & the subtle variances in the tinges of blue. two of the windows in the right actually makes this picture...without them I don't think this picture would have been as effective as it is now. Good work!
Regards & have a good week
