Hiking through burnt down forest near Minarets in Sierra Nevada mountains I found this bright yellow flower in full bloom in the midst of ashes demonstrating enormous power and speed of life.
To get this angle of view I had to dig a small pit in front of this relatively low plant. The demand for DOF was enormous and I would love to have stop 32 on my 17 mm lens. But there was 22 available only.
Scanned by Nikon CoolScan IV ED. Slightly cropped, levels, flowers sharpened using Unsharp mask level 65, 4 pix radius, resampled , Unsharp mask level 45, 1 pix radius. JPEG level 51 (Corel PhotoPaint notation) due to TE picture size limits.

Pretty sight with a particular angle, the contrast with the gray trees black plus the sky is perfect. well done.

And well worth the effort. I particularly like the clear use of increasingly light elements (dark, dead, foreboding trees giving way to more bleached trees, yielding to the burst of flowers), as well as the deep blue sky.
The sky seems to have an inconsistent coloration; can you explain the patch of really dark sky in the left side of the picture? Also, I think the picture is very sharp; maybe too sharp in fact. But it's tough to fit these pictures for TE limits. Good job overall.

Great perspective, the yellow bush forms a nice base where one's eyes may work their way up. The burnt trees at right contrasts nicely with the trees at left.

Looks like the sky is just there waiting for us to climb a tree and touch it. The angle from which the photo is taken makes it so...hmmm... dynamic? atractive! yes that's the word! very atractive photo! And the yellow plant in middle of burned and naked trees gives it such a life! Great! :D

This is excellent. The contrast of the burnt trees and the untouched trees, with the backdrop of the dark blue sky already make an interesting shot. The angle is nice as is the addition of the yellow plant in the foreground. Great work.

This is a very impressing shot.
The colors are vivid and the contrast between the yellow and the blue is very pleasing.
The point of view is very good.

A gracious shot, Amadej. You worked hard to get this shot, and your note is quite helpful in detailing how you got the image. I would love to explore these kinds of shots myself, living in California.
Thanks for inspiring me!
