Photographer's Note
Every year since the 1960's, the Chicago River is dyed green in celebration of St. Patrick's Day. This is a private enterprise, done by the plumbers union. The dye used is said to be vegetable-based and the recipe is secret. The dye starts as an orange powder that then becomes green when it contacts water. It also turns the bodily fluids of the handlers green ... Belated happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!
