Cape May Sunset, a photo from New Jersey, Northeast

Photographer's Note

Like NYC, New Jersey was also hit by that big snow storm in December 2010. Many roads were closed or partially opened. I decided to go to Cape May at the southern tip of New Jersey. It was 140 miles from the place I was staying. Best way to reach was Garden State Parkway. Normally, it takes me 2hours and 30 minutes, but took me almost 3 hours due to lanes closure. I left late so the only thing I ended up seeing was the Cape May lighthouse at sunset.

Hello Lakshmi,

I like this shot with the soft tones of sunset and the darkened lighthouse over the still lighted sky. The snow makes a contrast in the dark. Technically very well done.

I like this low light shot alot. You have managed the light really well, obtaining the beautiful yellow tones in the sky and creating the attractive sillhouettes in the lighthouse. The snow in the foreground has been recovered well. Excellent shot.

Hello Dear Lakshmi !

We appreciate a great effort made to bring this image to us all. A scene like this always brings me a moment of reflection. The light is very nicely managed to put the lighthouse almost in silhouette. Far off to the right the lighthouse has been push to provide an ample space for the rest of the photo. It is a beautiful moment captured. The panoramic format works nicely too. It is a very successful image. Coming back home must have been very difficult as well, I imagine. I love the colours of the sky.

you well handled the light, beautiful tones in the sky that fade from blue to orange, I also like the illuminated trails of airplanes, great framing with the lighthouse well positioned, I think it hangs slightly to the left,

beautiful sunset colors, the lighthouse is perfectly placed for a really good composition, Nice silhouette fo the trees and the snow is still visible in the dark. I love that swoosh of the cloud like feather or a soft brush stroke across the sky.
