Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere!, a photo from Colorado, West

Photographer's Note

While staying in Downtown Denver we wandered around a large area called the Civic Center. Opposite the very contemporary building that houses the Denver Museum of Art I saw this building with the words 'Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere' in large red letters. It was a Sunday, everything seemed closed and I had no idea what was inside. The main part of the tall building looked as if it housed very modern apartments. Today, I looked at the picture more closely and saw the words 'Understanding the Threat' in smaller letters. I looked up the words up on the internet and found out that the building is called 'The Cell' (Center for Empowered Living and Learning). Inside is a multimedia experience showing random footage of news clips about terrorism. There have been mixed reviews about the content.
I took the picture for the graphic shapes and the red colour. Surprising what you can learn about a innocently taken photo!

Hello Ann,

What an all-inclusive title, these people are inviting/challenging the world. I like the detail shot, and the predominant colors — red, gray and black — as well as the strong diagonal lines. Good eye, good composition.

Hello Ann,
This reminds me of an early recording by The Who, "Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere", but that was a very different story. Whoever put these red letters and the zig zag line on the grey background knew what she (or he) was doing. And the architect figured out the many diagonals quite cleverly. It was well observed, although you found out parts of the message only afterwards,

You certainly found a very good title to this picture. You also found very good colours and interesting irregular forms, thanks to the architect;) And you have cropped the photo in a very fine way!

Ann you know how to see compositions before you click the shutter. I never knew myself to be excellent at abstract photography, but from looking at the many diagonal and converging lines, the touch of red on the left, and the red anyone anytime anywhere makes all things inside this frame come into perfect balance. Still thinking about the snow on the bottom...its okay there too...but I would be tempted to level off with shovel before taking the shot.

Taking pictures help us to learn lots of new things, have a greater mind, be curious. Good graphism well enhanced by the red portions and letters. It seems there was still some snow!

An interesting note and a very graphic and striking picture to accompany it. Good strong compositional lines and fine contrasting colours. Brilliant detail and sharpness too - you and your new 7D are a killer combination!

it is a nice composition, with a direct and explicit framing on these geometric shapes of the architecture of this building, and a magnificent graphical effect of the red letters in its front.
There is a good game of light and shades on these elements, in a very well seen and very well executed composition.
