Photographer’s Note
I recently returned from a roadtrip to Grand Canyon. But, oddly, i find that the coolest pics are from the trip rather than from the destination. This one, for example, was snapped behind a gas station at a small town on Route 66.
I wanted a powerful pic with lots of lens-glare and popping colours. The low angle allowed me to do this on still get some details in the snow.
Just the usual crop, levels, curves and sharpening drill.

hi Mikkel, this is an impressive shot...i have to squint my eyes from the glare:)and i love it's contrasting blue sky and pale ground. i must agree, sometimes the journey is much more worthwhile that the destination.have a nice day.

Good job shooting into the sun yet still capturing good snow detail. Also good job with the composition, fitting the sun into a spot surrounded by trees.

is it cold or hot? as we see heaps of snow obviously it's cold, but the sun is shining so strongly and the deep blue sky seems a nice hot day.

I am experimenting with sunbursts. Great shot.
I'm studying up and read where if you shoot towards the sun, try and place so that it's rays just peak out behind a tree limb to get the most burst with the least flare. My next assignment...
Excellent texture to the snowfall.
