Another place to visit while traveling in New York City is the famous Times Square. It reminded me so much of the Las Vegas Strip, lots of bright colorful lights, lots of activity, many people, hundreds of billboards and taxi's.
You would think then, that Times Square would be easy to photograph, but it most certainly wasn't. Choosing a composition was so difficult. Perhaps its because of visual stimulation overload. The only photo that i took of times square that i really liked was this one.
And i hope you like it too.
Thanks for looking.

I like the use of black and white in this composition; it suits the scene perfectly. Your point of view is well chosen to capture the hustle and bustle and animated atmosphere to good effect. That cloudy sky makes the perfect backdrop for the dark tones of the urban landscape.

Like the idea !
We are so used to see NY in color..
You've perfectly captured the excitement and you've created a strong atmosphere thanks to your B&W treatment.
Great picture. Fine quality and marvelous grey tones, compliments.

bianco e nero in tutti i colori? Strano titolo :P
Parlando di bianco e nero, l'immagine è ben virata e anche la scena è ben ritratta grazie alla scelta di un buon POV.

Congratulations for fantastic experiment with B&W and extraordinary sharpness of details (wow! - f/4). That's realy artistic shot: nice composition with super light management

Your picture shows a particularly lively Times Square, even hectic! The exact image I have of the place! The transition to black and white enhances the urban character, already marked.

Hello Craig, your choice of B/W works well for me here, you have managed to capture all the hustle and bustle without distractions.
I quite like the empty area in the immediate FG where the road markings have their own interest.
Super sharp with plenty of contrast and grey tones, nice one.

Hello Craig, This is quite a surprise to see Tmes Square in B & W. It projects a busy place whether in color or in your choice. You did a nice job projecting your camera into what is almost the middle of traffic. The picture is sharp and clear to the viewer and that is very good. The skycrapers and advertising have changed since I was first here many long years ago. I would have liked to see this in color too, but I am content with your choice. Good job. Regards, Roger.

Une très belle vision de NY en noir et blanc mais les couleurs fortes de la ville et des taxis me manquent quand même un peu.

Hi Craig, The black and white is an interesting option but I would prefer in full colours. The strong colours make the atmospphere of Times Square. But on other hand, there are a lot of photos in colours. I loved this square. I was lucky that I stayed by CS very near, on 39th Street, so could see it in different hours, also late in the evening with all lights.
Excellent composition, perfect sharpness.

Clever choice to go for B/W in the colourful surroundings at Times Square. I wonder when we will see a B/W from Las Vegas? As you say, it is not easy to compose here either, and the light can be difficult among all the skyscrapers. You managed to expose well under the difficult conditions. Well done:) Have a great weekend.
Best regards, Erling

Times Square in B&W..!
A fine mix of commercial signs and buzzing life, a cosmopolitan melting pot that never sleeps...
An interesting frame with fine details, the 21 mm results in fine dynamic lines in the architecture!

Hello Craig! Are many elements that add prestige to your image in a color I would also appeal (personal view)I liked it if the distortion right adds momentum and subscribe! Great photo, perfectly balanced framing and composition, amazing perspective! Excellent light management, wonderful B&W contrast-colours!Bravo

I love this shot for many reasons, firstly because although it isn't "postcardy" there's no mistaking it's New York. There is no other city like it. I love the chaos and busy-ness of the place, and your photo conveys all that. Another reason you gotta love it is the B&W, which we don't see enough of from you - it really give it a sense of timelessness.
Thanks for sharing, have a good one
