Photographer's Note
Well, I`m finally back home after a wonderful vacation in the USA. I've been away for about a month, and got a week's stay in hospital at home when I broke my leg in Los Angeles. Luckily that happened almost in the end of the vacation, and not the beginning. I really look forward to take a look at all the great pictures I`ve missed in my absent.
I will start with this picture from a busy New York street, right outside the Grand Central Station. My idea was to isolate a single yellow cab crossing the white stripes ment for walking.

Excellent composition with the stark contrasting elements of the NYC taxi driven as ever by someone who wants to be an F1 racer :-)
What i would have tried for is the cab a bit lower in the frame
Cool none the less

Hello Erling,
I've tried similar shots in this spot many times, but was never happy with the results. Your capture of this taxi is great. There is a dizzying effect to the scene. I'm sorry you broke your leg. :-( Hopefully you are feeling better now. I look forward to seeing more of your NYC shots.

love this one, very unique, tracking the taxi as it crosses the crosswalk. very hard to get these shots down right.
I'm so sorry to hear about your misfortune, hopefully you're feeling better and the damage isn't permanent.
See you around

Hi Erling,
A well done extreme pan shot. Yellow really stands out against overall grey surroundings. The stripes on the street add extra charm. Background colour details are also good for the impression of speed.

Hi Erling,
I love the feeling of movement in this picture, it captures the essence of the New York rush. What makes it even more impressive for me are the white lines on the tarmac (zebra crossing?), perfectly offset by the bridge (?) at the top. I also like the (almost) single splash of colour in the otherwise monochrome setting. Well done!
I'm sorry to hear about your leg - I hope you didn't break it while trying to take a spectacular picture...
Kind regards,
Spela

Hello Erling,
The panning is great and the isolation of the cab is superb. I also enjoy the pattern of the lines on the road and of those created by the motion of the camera on the buildings.
Have a nice day,
Emmanuel

Hi Erling,
I've tried many times to pull this off, but I've found it a bit difficult to really get a good shot using the panning technique, so I certainly appreciate your effort and execution with this one. The focus captured on the taxi logo is perfect, and the graphic look and feel from the rest of the photo makes it come together quite nicely. Great choice of location, the horizontal lines add even more interest to the already captivating moment. This is a wonderful representation of the NYC vibe, lively and always on-the-go! Well done.
Cheers,
Jason
