The Lincoln Memorial has been photographed millions of times. I took this shot a little after midnight and still there were several hundred people that stopped to take a photo while I was there. The statue is truly impressive and I tried to give a sense of scale to it. As I was setting up this shot I could only think that Abe’s face was full of concern. It seemed to me that from his chair he was staring towards the Capitol with great apprehension as he helplessly watches the American financial system edge closer to collapse.
Washington DC is an amazing city for anyone interested in architectural photography. The people are exceptionally nice and it is very friendly to photographers. I would highly recommend it to anyone considering travelling there.
