Gibson Covered Bridge aka. Harmony Hill Covered Bridge spans the east branch of Brandywine Creek just outside of Downington, P.A.. The bridge was built in 1872 and rehabilitated in 2003. The construction uses the Burr Arch to support the span. The bridge is designated Chester County Bridge #120. See WS for a shot of the wooden plaque inside the bridge.

The point of view is well chosen to show us the construction of the bridge to good effect. The wall in the right foreground makes a useful pointer. The image has good colours and sharpness.

Hi Asa, A nicely composed photo helped by the well composed POV, the shot does lack colour & clarity, however it's an interesting covered bridge, kind regards Wilson.

Another nice one in your collection. The stone wall leads the eye to the bridge. The angle of the shot allows to see the river and the bridge side. I can even notice the road on the other side going uphill. Good colors and fine sharpness.

I've always wondered the reason why bridges were covered, I guess it was because of the inclement weather such as snow, and thus have a shelter.
Excellent perspective, great depth and detail.

It's interesting to see the old American architecture. A covered bridge, the function of which, I really do not understand, but it certainly had its reason. Definitely reminds me of the picture, building a railway. (I know pot is not drafted, and compile it, where locomotives are stored. An interesting solution. Maybe you were here to see the riders from the rain? :-)

Superb composition and a nice angle to show the image of this original and charming bridge.
These covered bridges are a good choice to take refuge in cold weather or rainy.
A clear image with good brightness and smooth and lovely color.
Have a nice weekend.
All the best.

Great series of photos of a wooden-covered bridges, housing, how typical of America. I've always been puzzled, why cover it so? Great composition with excellent quality.

bella anche questa immagine del ponte in legno in una inquadratura in cui il soggetto è ben legato all'ambiente,

This one has a bit different design from the others, and I'm no only thinking of the white colour!
The side walls cover more, and the facade has some decoration features...
Effective point of view, well framed with good details!
