Photographer’s Note
I zoomed in on the flag which was flying on Liberty Island, New York.
This has not been cropped, it is just how I took it.
Nobody has marked this note useful

This pattern could be nice for TL but here... I'm not sure if it belongs to TE considering that together with the note it doesn't teach me anything about the world...

hmmmmmmm
nice colours.... but then that's to the credit of the person who designed the flag and not you :)
your exposure is great though..
but if really want to show a patriotic image, then i think you should have tried to make thisa part of the daily life in your country. for example , some people have the american flag on the dashboard of the car.. if you take a photograph of an american scene (anything.. whther it's the street or some landscape) from inside the car with the little american flag in the frame as well..
i would find that composition more meaningful...
or you know.... the american flag draped on a wall as the backgrop and some american life in the foreground...
there are so many more ways to innovate on this
your flag is beautiful, but you aren't really making sense out of your composition...
edit: i left this critique in the morning and noticed that the last bit of my critique didnt come through.. anyway i wanted you to have a look at this to get an idea of what im talking about
take care :)

What is the interest of posting a flag shot ???
I don't learn anything about the world and photography ...
Sorry to say ... but what is your motivation ?

Excellent shot of the U.S. flag. A few French people have a problem with it being here. That's a real shocker. (-: You should add the "Bit of History" that you put in a reply to your main note.
You might also consider adding to your note a short essay on the German occupation of France during WW II. That will give them the opportunity to learn about the world they once lived in, and with a little bit of thought, what their world could have been today.
Thank you for your colorful, through the lens, tight crop on FREEDOM.

it's amusing how controversial one picture of a piece of fabric can be. :P
aesthetically, this is a great shot, but a agree that you should add the 'a bit of history' comment to your note. good job.

Have to disagree with those who say that the shot is not on the right site :) The picture is in fact interesting in a way. I was visiting my firends at Boston just in April of 2002. I was really amazed by a number of flags in the private housing sector and in public places. I asked my hosts why it was so and the answer was this is after 9/11. I guess I will not go any further - this smells too political - but for me this was very interesting to see how americans expose their patriotism. I guess that the picture is in the right place but as someone before me noted comment is missing.
BTW the shot quality is good.
