Early autumn in a southern swamp Photo

Photographer’s Note

The Iris Gardens at Swan Lake are on two sides of a busy street with a walkway that goes over the road. On one side is the lake itself and on the other is a typical looking southern swamp with Spanish moss hanging from the trees, deep shadows and black water that reflects things beautifully. The water was covered in green muck when I was there last. It was beginning to show just hints of fall color among the moss. I love that place. It is so calming.

Thank you for the kind words of condolence for the loss of my cousin. It meant a lot to me. Hope you are all well.

I love this dark backgroun who gives a nice attraction to your subject.

The graphisme of that picture is inspiration for my oils, dear Shelly. Must be a big impressionist master to realize such idea, even the question is of two colors almost. You know the best how mysterious is that place. Or romantic.

Nicely exposed Shelly in that you have retained the dark side of the swamp which also serves to enhance the coloured part of the branch in the upper left.

hello Shelly,
ths place looks kind of darkand dangerous to me, as if an alligator would come snapping out of the water. It eels so exotics, so very differnent from our Scottish climate and environment. You have shown its colours off well with good sharp detail.

Hi Shelly,
a very special place that would be fun to experience. I have only seen it in the comics when i was a kid, reading "The swamp thing" :) I've always been fascinated by the swamps, a bit mysterious and frightening. You have choosen a very good Pov, were we can see the important things, the green water and the moss covered trees. Very sharp also, maybe the atmosphere would even better in the late evening sun.. Well done and Tfs!
