Evidently one of the largest and most elaborate ever built for the shooting of one scene from the new War of the Worlds movie. It's very eerie, actually; people got very quiet on the tour when we passed by this set, and understandably so. The tour director said that this was an actual 747 aircraft that was dismantled so it looks very authentic; too much so. There are now several Universal Studios parks around the world. The first is in Hollywood (actually Universal City, near Burbank); the second is in Orlando and a third was opened in Japan. There are also two currently in the works: one in Singapore, supposed to be opened in 2010, and another in Dubai, to be completed in 2012. One is also being planned for South Korea (2012). In addition to its studio tour, which drives around the backlot of a working movie studio, there are a number of other rides and attractions.
