Photographer’s Note
yes, tilt again, I have to maintain my reputation as tilt freak. Chicago is a great place for somewhat abstract city shots, the sunshine that bounces from one glass skycreeper to another creates beautiful luminous light that seems to come from everywhere. add blue sky and white clouds reflected in the glass buildings, and you get a feeling that the city weigths nothing, and is about to lift off and head up in space.
other two posts from Chicago are here and here.

tilt, game over !?
No Kristine i like this tilt which IMHO emphasizes the size of the skyscrappers, the blue and cloudy sky, the light on the buildings and above all the inclusion of the abstract sculpture in your compo
Vey well done

Kristine, I like it, this is a really exciting view of tall structures like this and as always the details and crispness is awesome, great work.

Deep blue polarized sky, quasi-abstract cityscapes, beautiful light...no contest this definitely is a Kristine shot!

Kristine,
Tiltaholic? Something surely has to tilt or bend one way or the other with a 15mm looking up! :) Not that I'm worried, the result is surely a superior cityscape with undending depth of field.

Hi Kristine.
Well done with the wide lens. You made a very nice and smart work with the composition and the low POV and also you managed very well the light.
Well done.

Hello Kristine. First visibly are the unusual and skillful composition, then the high technical quality of the photo. In addition, colors and light are perfect. Indeed a masterful shot. My acknowledgment for it. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hi Kristine
No doubt! You deserve this reputation of tilt freak! :)
The building in a vanishing point, the strong colors and reflections... that's a hit, Kristine! But somehow, the sculpture, on the side, distracts me. I tried a WS, (my new addiction)... just in case you like it.

I'm not usually a tilt fan and this is the second one I commented on today that I actually like. I think it's to do with the 'comfort zone' thing I talked about earlier. Anyway is this true tilt or WA distortion? (another thing I'm usually not keen on either unless done well) You certainly know how to use it to the advantage of the image as a whole. It makes the buildings to really reach out for the sky. The graphics and the reflections are strong points of the image. (Maybe less so the sculpture)Another good one.

Hello Kristine,
Keep tilting... At least if you continue to produce such inspiring city views. The statue i nthe foreground provides a fien contrast in colour and form.

Hi, Kristine -
Yes. tilts can be be overdone, but this one works fine, not least because of the extreme wide angle, which complements the tilt so that neither is overwhelming. Nice strong image and very sharp. Interesting reflection of the clouds in the windows. And the bit of red stripe prevents it from being too monochromatic.
Best,
Dan

Hi Kristine,
Just for a moment, I thought that JB posted again !
But his shots were from NY. Although I liked this city a lot, I have to say I prefer Chicago, probably for its 'human size' despite its enourmous skyscrapers.
Excellent composition, your photo gives me vertigo!

Hello Kristine,
The tilt is not striking due to the already perspective effect induced by the bottom to top point of view.
Personnaly, I prefer this view compared to the one in WS. I prefer the volume composition. I think it would have been better without the artwork but it is not changing so much.
It is a very good photo with the overall grey and blue colors, it provides a nice unity to this shot. Now I think as you, Chicago should be a good place for photo.
Yves.

hi Kristine,
a fine POV and perspective given by the buildings reaching the sky in the same direction and the tilt. A nice light on the windows to give interesting reflections.

Hello Kristine! Standing there you must feel rather petit :))) Impressive view up to the sky, love the clouds reflecting in the office buildings, indeed it makes them seem "featherlight" (is this English????). Everything is razor sharp, yes the tilt, we all have our things that we do over and over again, it belongs to us. Love the tilt by the way, suits the crazy atmosphere of huge cities. Have a wonderful weekend, ours is closer than yours but it is still morning here so some hours left with work ... Barbara.

Hi Kristine,
Well it would be impossible anyway to take a distortion free photo of these buildings so the deliberate tilt is not a bad solution after all, especially considering you tilt forward.
Have a nice day JY

Hi Kristine,
What I find most striking here is the metallic feeling that you managed to project in this shot and also the fact that the glass panels and the reflected sky created an illusion of a skeletal building. The inclusion of the sculpture provided good contrast and breaks the monotony. A lovely shot!!
Regards and good wishes.

strange perspective of these buildings that looks like to be take off.I like the brilliant light,as the great contrast with the blue sky. With the use of a wide angle we can see a lot of interesting synthesis.

Hello Kristine,
Oh yeah keep tiltin in Chicago! What other place in the U.S. can you capture amazing architecture than in Chicago. Using a wide 10-20 enchances your linear perspective, showing a large foreground way up the sky, the tilt makes it more strong distance and recognisable scale!

Hello Kristine,
The composition and colors are excellent, as is the sharpness of that Sigma lens. That tilt is entirely ex[ected. The vertical lines should converge slightly, in accordance to the rules of three-point perspective. Of course the 10-20 mm lens, will cause that convergence to happen too rapidly, and could be corrected, but as long as it doesn't bother you, I think it is effective. In analogue photography, the 50 mm lens best approximates the 20-20 eye. I believe, with digital lenses, the 70-75 mm lens approximates the eye best.
Warm regards.

Hi Kristine,
Perfect framing! you have expertly composed the skyscraper of Chicago by making good use of tilting distortion. I love it a lot. Sharpness of the objet at the below left is superb despite difficult to apply of sharpness for diagonal lines.

Hi Kristine,
this one has your signature. I remember well other shots of you in which you did a great job with the strong perspective and diagonal lines. Nothing would go better than the ultra-wide angle for this type of photo. Very dynamic and well presented...and thanks for bringing the intense blue of the sky out. By the way, how's Kristaps? Cheers to you and him!

Hi Kristine,
This is a wonderful POV showing the height of this buildings very well and I like the reflection of the sky on the windows. Sometimes it feel like we see through the building into the sky. the inclusion of the artwork give us a better perspective as well as the scale of things. Feels like the clouds are moving, I get dizzy looking up the sky between building sometimes. Good work Kristine. Thanks

Hi Kristine
I just love the distortion here thanks to the wide angle as it sets the architecture off brilliantly. The sunlight is everywhere and I like the curious sculpture.

P.S. We ended up taking a normal Antelope Canyon tour after what you said. We had to "fight" to get on an 11am bus but the guide was great and gave tips on interesting shots to take. However as you say, there are so many people (there are much fewer in the Lower Canyon) and it's not ideal for the cameras when they throw sand up in the air and my 18-200 is a bit stiff since.

Hey Kristine,
as far as I'm concerned, you can tilt as much as you'd like. I'd love to write a "smart" critique on this one, but I can only say that I love it!
I really enjoy seeing things from a different angle. Thanks for showing this very different view! As good as some classic shots are, photos like this are so much better. Unique capture but very real, how small do I feel when standing there - incredible shot!
Have a great weekend and take good care,

Hello Kristine
The tilt freak is at it again! But fine with me, as the feeling of height of the buildings is accentuated thanks to it. Without the sculpture in the FG, this might have been boring. The play of light & shade on the buildings & the reflection of the clouds looks good. Very effective, very good compo.
