Photographer’s Note

This is just outside the entrance to Langtry winery in Middletown, CA. It's atypical to see any clouds in the sky past March here, so I was moved to pause and capture the dramatic colors and lighting they created.

The winery was called Guenoc for many years, and that name is still used on some of the wines produced here. Langrty is after the British actress, Lillie Langtry, who bought the 21,000 acre estate sight unseen in 1888.

We're wine club members here, and we enjoy visiting the property, which as you can see offers much more than vineyards to behold. That's not Clearlake on the right, it is one of several large ponds on the Langtry property.

A relatively simple composition, but I was attracted to the strong diagonal lines of the white fence that leads us into the image. Good light and clarity. TFS. Gerald

A very evocative POV--the parallel fence converging, the stately tree to the right, all with the absence of vehicles coming or going. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Rachel. A special light treatment and perfect sharp here. Very interesting depht and very good the tree like vertical element. I like the dramatic sky too.

The light is good and creates a nice contrast against the dark sky.
The treee is very well placed, and I like a lot the result.

I like a lot the great contrasts of light , in this picture . The composition is very well balanced , with the white fence in diagonal , the superb tree , and a fantastic cloudy sky in the back ground .

A nice view with a great balance in the composition. I like especially the good and cretaive use of the white barrier which give an excelent prospect effect nad a great depht to the iamge.
