Photographer’s Note
This is the Nuclear Power Plant in Hartsville Tennessee. This plant never came online. The fear that these plants put into the public is unbelievable. This cooling tower stands as a Monolith of Terror in the surounding countryside. No matter what side you are on in this debate of Nuclear power. The controversy will not end ....The Fear.
Long crop and frame.

Hi Jimmy,
Sad, but true, there is a lot of mis-information out there by anti-nuclear power pundits. If we had gone forward with more 20 or 30 years ago just think of the impact to our environment. How many billions of tons of coal would not have been burned to pollute the atomsphere?
I lived in Jacksonville, Florida for about 10 years. They have a coal-fired power plant with two of these sorts of stacks. A lot of tourists would wrinkle their noses at them and complain that they could be in danger from the thick plumes of white smoke emanating from them. Just the sight of those shapes caused that fear in them, too.
I was more concerned with the stinky paper mills on the St. Johns river there. Those things are rank, and when you smell them, you definitely wonder what sort of chemicals were entering your system...
Anyway, I like this image and the note together. The note enhances the photograph appropriately, in my opinion. However, the cows don't seem to care one way or the other...
Have a great weekend!

Hi Jimmy
The cows behind the barb wire fence add to the sense of paranoia conveyed by the picture. Very effective!
