Photographer’s Note
This is just a small sample of what can be seen on top of Haleakala National Park on the island of Maui.
The drive to the summit (10 000+ feet) is quite enjoyable and the scenery is beyond words. This is actually the crater of the volcano.
"The journey to the summit of Haleakala brings you from coastal Maui, to the remote, native, high-elevation world protected by the park. Here on Maui's highest peak you find an island in the sky where the clouds spread out below you like a second layer of ocean. Cindercones, rare plants, native birds, and hiking trails await your discovery."

Paul,
this is a very nicely conceived composition with the brown-pinkish lava rocks in the foreground, the double peak cone in the backgound and the sinusoidal shaped street creeping up the slope. The placement of the car respecting the 1/3 rule is a good additional feature.
I would suggest you two things to improve the image. One is using a circular polarizing filter to enhance this sky that looks a little bit fade. The other thing is that this image is somewhat oversharpened. Do you see that zigzag at the narrow portion of the street? In front of the car and behind it? Those are signs of oversharpening. Not bad but can be avoided easily and make a difference in the overall presentation.
